Chief Tony C. Laws
Chief Laws has been a dedicated member of South Toe Volunteer Fire & Rescue for over 40 years. He has held the Chiefs position for the last 18 years. Before being nominated as Chief, he served as a Captain for 10 years, as well as a Lieutenant for 8 years. He is a certified North Carolina Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) as well as Level I and II Firefighter and Chief 101. Tony is a very dedicated member, and has a hand in everything at our Station.
Outside of the Fire Department, Tony is also an active member of Lower Browns Creek Baptist Church, where he serves as a Deacon. He is a loving husband and father, and is an influential member of the South Toe Community, as well as Yancey County. Tony is a part owner and full time operator of Grassy Creek Clothing, located in Spruce Pine, NC.
Outside of the Fire Department, Tony is also an active member of Lower Browns Creek Baptist Church, where he serves as a Deacon. He is a loving husband and father, and is an influential member of the South Toe Community, as well as Yancey County. Assistant Chief Brian Wilson
Chief Wilson has been volunteering with the Fire Department for over 20 years. He has held the Assistant Chief for 2 years, held Captain position at Station Two for the last 10 years, and was a Lieutenant prior to that. Brian has extensive firefighter training and experience, and is a major asset on all Search and Rescue operations.
Outside the Fire Department, Brian is a avid hunter and fisherman. He recently married his loving wife Tonia Hall. He is a full time operator and owner of Wilson Brothers Construction, where he works with his dad, Randy Wilson.

Assistant Chief Bryan Thomas
Assistant Chief Thomas has been an involved member of South Toe Volunteer Fire & Rescue for over 20 years. He has held the Assistant Chief position for the last 2 years. Before accepting the Assistant Chief's position, he served as a Team Lead for the Wildland Fire Response Team for the last 8 years.
Outside of the Fire Department, Bryan is also an active member as a Deacon at Halls Chapel Baptist Church. Bryan and his wife Amy have two beautiful daughters Taylor and Maylee Thomas.

Fire Lieutenant - Josh Blevins
Blevins has been volunteering with the Fire Department for over 20 years. Josh holds a Chief 101 certification, as well as North Carolina Medical Responder. He has taken several Firefighter Level 1 and 2 courses, and is currently working towards finishing his certification for Level 1 and 2 Firefighter.
Outside the Fire Department, Josh is a deacon at Mount Mitchell Baptist Church which he has attended his entire life. Josh works for Blevins Construction and is married to Kelly Blevins, who is also a member of the Department and has two beautiful daughters Sheyenne and Mattie Blevins.

Fire Captain Michael Blevins
Captain Blevins has been a dedicated volunteer with South Toe Fire Department for over 20 years. He is the Fire Captain at Station One and has held this position for the last 7 years and served as Lieutenant prior to accepting the Captain position. Michael has extensive firefighter and rescue training and experience that he graciously passes on to the younger members of the department.
Outside of the Fire Department, Michael is also an active member of Lower Browns Creek Baptist Church. He is a loving husband and father, and owner and full time operator of Blevins Construction.

EMS Captain Rick Huskins
EMS Captain Huskins has been a member of South Toe Volunteer Fire & Rescue for the last 10 years, and was also a member of the Department for 12 years earlier in his life. Before being nominated to the EMS Captain position, Rick was a very dedicated Firefighter and First Responder. He is a certified Emergency Medical Technician, with specialties in EKG, as well as Pediatric studies, and is currently enrolled in a Paramedic class (scheduled to complete in December, 2013). Rick is also responsible for maintaining the medical equipment at Station Two and ordering replacement medical supplies.
Outside of the Fire Department, Rick is an active member at Mount Mitchell Baptist Church, where he regularly leads Sunday School. He is married to South Toe Fire member Doris Huskins. Rick is also the owner and operator of Huskins Cabinets, located in Busick, NC.

Rescue Captain Houston Alexander
Rescue Captain Alexander has been a member of the Department for several years, and has held the Rescue Captain position for 6 years. Houston is a certified Emergency Medical Technician, and also serves as a dedicated fireman and rescue technician. Houston is responsible for working with the local school system on the Departments Fire and Education Program teaching First Aid and Fire Safety. South Toe Fire and Rescue provides smoke detectors to each and every student at South Toe Elementary School each year.
Outside of the Department, Houston works for Skyland Fire and Rescue in Buncombe County.

EMS Captain Josh Hensley
Captain Josh Hensley has been with with South Toe Volunteer Fire & Rescue for several years. EMS Captain Hensley is a certified Firefighter Level 1 & 2 and NC EMT-P and works for Yancey EMS as a Medical Paramedic. You may see Josh responding to assist the community with Yancey EMS but also uses his skills and knowledge to volunteer as the EMS Captain for Station 1 with South Toe Fire and Rescue. Josh co-leads the Fire and Education Program for the Department and teaches First Aid and Fire Safety in the local schools within District. Josh is a core member of Josh Toe and is the lead medical instructor for our Department working in partnership with Mayland Community College.
